The October 2020 Edition of “The Chirp”, the official Sparrow’s Nest newsletter, features an inspirational note from founder Krista Jones.
“Wisdom is the instantaneous recognition that crisis is a blessing”. This quote by Dr. John DeMartini hangs on my bathroom mirror and I put it there earlier this year to give me some perspective. It is so easy to get caught up in all that is wrong and broken in 2020 but finding joy in the simplest of things can bring us such great peace.
Changing the way we think, changes the way we feel. When we drown out the negative in our head, we can get a clearer picture of all we are thankful for. I am thankful for this community. Despite the challenges facing all of us this year, you dug your heels in to help us continue feeding families facing a cancer diagnosis. You continued supporting our mission financially, as our expenses increased in an effort to provide extra staple food items to our families in need.
There are so many of you to thank that we have decided to dedicate the month of November to all of you. Our 30 days of thanks kicks off this Sunday as we highlight all the good in this community; from our recipients, to local businesses, to volunteers, to donors. Our sustainability is because of the generosity of all of you and we will forever be thankful.
Thank you to all of our AMAZING sponsors, volunteers and attendees for making our Virtual Farm to Table Gala a huge success! With your support we raised over $100,000 that will support families of caregivers and children coping with a cancer diagnosis.
