The Chirp – May 2021
The May 2021 Edition of “The Chirp”, the official Sparrow’s Nest newsletter, features an inspirational note from founder Krista Jones.
My friend took her last breath 10 years ago this coming July and there is not a day that goes by that I don’t think of her, if even for just a moment. I can’t imagine the hole her passing has left in the heart of her children but I do know with Mother’s Day around the corner, it stirs up emotions in so many. For those that struggle with infertility, those who never had a mother figure and those that have lost their moms to cancer, old age, suddenly, I just want to pause and spend some time honoring all the amazing women who have wanted to be moms, but aren’t and the ones who have left us way too soon. The ones who wiped our tears when we fell, the ones who shed some tears with us during our first heartbreaks, the women who sacrificed so much so we could have it all and the ones who had dreams of taking care of their own little beings, but never got the chance. With such an array of emotions around the day, I thought it important to reiterate if we were/are lucky enough to have an amazing mom, embrace it, but remember those who would love to be in your shoes. Show some kindness, reach out to someone who might be missing a beautiful woman even more so this Mother’s Day and let them know they are not alone. To all the women who have been our anchor during stormy weather, you don’t have to be our mothers for us to appreciate the difference you make in our lives every single day.

Happy Mother’s Day!
Thanks to the Wappingers Lady Warriors Lacrosse Team for donating the beautiful Mother’s Day flowers that went to our families this week!
Also, a heartfelt thanks to John Jay High School student Avery who made beautiful cards to go along with the flowers.
What is Sparrow’s Circle?
Sparrow’s Circle, our new monthly giving program, was created to give our dedicated community of supporters an easy way to ensure that Sparrow’s Nest has the resources to be there for families in crisis, for as long as that crisis persists.
Our monthly donors make it possible for us to:
- Support long-term cancer survivors
- Provide continued meal deliveries to families for up to one year after the devastating loss of a loved one due to cancer
- Ensure that we never turn a qualified recipient away
- Provide a steady source of funding for our mission throughout the year, allowing us to continue feeding local families coping with a cancer diagnosis.
Consider becoming a Sparrow’s Circle member and help make a difference all year long.
